I really like these games, and this second installment has some new surprises and I think a generally more challenging skill level, but I've managed to completely clear Toy Bot Diaries 2 in just two days of casual play.

I'll keep playing it once in a while as I do with the first, but I think IUGO really needs to find a way to kick up the replay value in this franchise... Maybe a timed mode or some sort of particularly crazy extra challenges or hidden level?

ern2150: There are actually only a very few vendors mentioning lifetime free updates in the app description. The AppStore is only a few months old. I am pretty sure other vendors will charge for significant updates as well, especially those who rolled out an initial release for free or just one buck.

TDB2 is not an upgrade - it is a completely new game using the same principle. I just finished the first world and it is worth every penny IMHO. It seems turning on the magnetic boots does work a bit differently (or less reliably) now - not sure I prefer it.

No, this isn't an update. It's a sequel.

I'd prefer it myself if these games were far larger/longer, even if it meant they were much more expensive. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

Is this really the AppStore model? When updating all apps iTunes asks me if I really want to download all free updates. This sounds to me like there could also be non-free updates, which I think is fine, if they add new features and non only bugfix.

And for Toy Bot Diaries: That's a new game with a new story and new puzzles. It's ok to sell it as Toy Bot Diaries 2, which is also what they announced from the start of the first Toy Bot.

Do you really think that the devs should give you every update and even new games or storylines for free? I don't. And most companies do not. Maybe I should talk to Apple, because I did not get 10.5 for free, although I bought 10.4...

I really like the game but this breaks / cheats the app store model of charge once, free updates.
I might just sit the rest of these out, lest I end up spending $21 on a $9.99 game.

There's a short, condensed tutorial, then you dive right in. Some good, fresh gameplay. Haven't yet finished it, so don't know how long it is.

Chalk me down as well as another who'd pay more for a longer game!

Advice for IUGO: please turn down the sound for the bombs, I was listening at a reasonable volume level and then they suddenly nearly blew my ears off. Ouch.

I like the idea of multiple cheaper chapters vs a $9.99 game.

I only hope this one starts at a difficulty at or above the end of chapter one, and not an easy tutorial start.

Does this mean we should expect a price drop for version 1?
I never got round to buying that one...
