All said and done, I really hope the 3rd Gen iPhone would be more powerful so that better 3D games could be played especially my fav kind of genre - FPS!

I don't really care about D-pad or whatever. I don't like to carry extras when I'm out and about. I hope they can design better battery too for that matter. Frankly, I'm already happy with my iPhone and the apps and games so far. I know Apple will improved on it for long time coming. I'm already planning to get the 3rd gen iPhone if ever it coming out once my 2 years contract is up!

Hail to Steve Jobs!

I think it is an amazing gaming device. I wouldn't be surprised if in the next few years that you see more and more kids with an iPod Touch instead of a Nitendo DS.

I recently developed a mix-and-match game based on my preschool son Henry as one of the lead characters. I'm not a professional developer or big company. I am just a mom who wanted to make a game that my three year old son Henry and his preschool pal Hailey could play. I know that my son Henry and his preschool pals love playing on the iPhone.

Look, he said capability, the iPhone undoubtedly has better graphics CAPABILITY then the DS hands down. But the fact is that so far no one has made a game with better graphocs than the DS. But the DS doesn't have ability to play movies. But the iPhone has less battery life. The point is both have ups and downs. i think the iPhone has much better potential and is better over all, apple just has to upgrade the iPhones processor, and get people to make some games that can show its full potential.

Clearly, the sweet spot for iPhone/iPod touch (relative to the dedicated consoles) are casual gamers, and everyone at some point of the day/week/month has a casual moment for which gaming is the antidote.

Plus, specifically because gaming is just one of the tasks that consumers use their iPhone/iPod touch for, the device is never far from their clutches – and their (virtual) pocketbook.

I see this truth play out several times a day, EVERY DAY, when my three and six year old sons ask if they can use my iPod to…play games, listen to music, view our photo albums, watch YouTube videos, use their favorite drawing program, etc.

It's the classic low-end disruptor (Innovator's Dilemma-speak), something that I blogged about in:

Apple’s Mobile Gaming Gold Rush
