'Kroll' and 'Star Wars' Join in Price Drops

Kroll and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed are two of the latest price drops found on our New Games and Price Drop list. While we didn't love either title due to limited gameplay, both had very good production values and represent some of the most visually appealing titles on the iPhone.

The lower prices help swing the cost to value ratio towards a better direction. Here are excerpts from our original reviews which both cited their pricing as the main sticking point against their recommendation.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed ($9.99 -> $7.99) – Our review – "While die hard Star Wars fans will enjoy the ambiance of this title and even enjoy the actual gameplay despite the limited control options, the short game-play time, limited replay-ability and frustratingly un-skippable cut scenes make it difficult to recommend this title at its $9.99 asking price."

Kroll ($7.99 -> $4.99) – Our review – "Kroll is perhaps one of the most visually impressive games available for the iPhone. But as a total package, its simplistic gameplay and short play time prevent us from recommending this title at its $7.99 asking price."

both are crap games with nice graphics, shame, if you want to show off iphone graphics then may be worth it, for playing they are not, unfortunatley i payed full price for both

I have to agree with bob, at least for Kroll.

I still haven't seen the perfect game … I think there's too much consensus among publishers and devs that "casual" games are a cash cow, and they can do better with a five-man team and some glitz.

Fact is, the only game worth paying for is a good game. Glitz or no glitz. Hell, I'd pay for a port of Zork, text an all. Oh, and I'd kill for a MUD client (happy birthday MUD! :) )

I'm an old fart though, so my opinion isn't exactly mass market…

Does that count? I don't anything about MUD, but I remembered seeing that app a long time ago.

    !!!

Thanks for pointing that out :) But it doesn't support other MUDs according to the only reviewer…:/

Hope they update it. Discworld on the loo! :)

mind criticizing the prices of Mac games now?

I mean, if you're able to drop the prices of these games… Wing Nuts seems pretty easy to trash. Wing Nuts feels very drawn out and really needs more creativity thrown into the mix. Some levels seem like they weren't even properly tested before leaving (level 12 is impossible without cheating… either by unlocking a ship through a glitch that you shouldn't have access to or by reducing the difficulty mid-campaign, another glitch.) The asking price of… oh, what is it, $30? Needs to be reduced. Only reason I have it is from Mac Heist II (which had several quality programs in it… Wing Nuts wasn't one of them.)

Well, back to working on my own iPhone game.

Thanks to toucharcade.com! If not for your review i would have paid for star wars and would probabl regret it!

I think games for the iphone, except one or two, are so common i would be ashamed to publish any. I wonder if people who publish games for the iphone ever looked at a real video game?

It's not because it's a phone that games have to be boring to death…

waiting for some real psp-like game to come out…

Thanks again to toucharcade.com for helping there!
