It seems that NAMCO have updated the listing and PAC-MAN Lite now works on 1G iPod Touch. I've already uploaded it to my 1G ;)

Well, the demo was nice for illustrating that only one of the input mechanisms works (swipe mode), but at leeast it does work reasonably well.

But how well does it work when you're at the 9th key level?

And even so, it's still way over-priced. I am not whining that I want it to be free or $0.99, there's a certain value to retro-games for me ... I've bought Pac-Man on almost every platform it has shipped on.

But charging more on the iPhone, ostensibly just because it IS the iPhone, is silly. There is no way this took more work than the Xbox 360 version, and that has online leaderboards and achievements, and had to go through the rigourous XBLA approval process.

When it finally reaches the same price as it is on the iPod I'll pick this up (same for Ms. Pac-Man), until then I'm happy waiting.

I've heard that Apple changed the default app submission to the 2nd generation iPod Touch. As a result some developers are are overlooking this change and making submissions that make their apps incompatible with the first generation iPod Touch. I suspect Namco may have overlooked this change when they submitted Pac-Man Lite. I think we need to knock heads with Apple over this.

Wow, I forgot just how much the original PacMan sucked balls. Cruncher for DOS was much more fun.

I would question paying $1 for PacMan... let alone $8

I for the life of me can't comprehend why Namco would make a bone headed decision to make this demo work with 2nd generation iPod Touch, but not the 1st. I'm thinking it may have been a Freudian slip when they submitted it to the app store that they marked it as iPod Touch (second generation.) This would otherwise only make sense if the 2nd gen Touch had features the 1st one doesn't that Namco was taking advantage of.. Otherwise considering that the full game works on a first gen Touch, I find the choice to make it work only with the 2nd gen Touch very odd.
