A very similar game to this one is Cosmic One, which I previewed a while back. I found Cosmic One to be similar to what you're saying about Cloud Girls. It's fun for a quick diversion, but nothing to really hold you over for a while.

all I can think of when I watch that movie is "why cant you rotate the ring freely with your finger"

I think it would just bother me using buttons when I have a perfectly fine touchscreen.
