Physics-based ‘StuntBike’ Headed to the App Store

posted October 3rd, 2008 12:32 PM EDT by blakespot in Puzzle, Upcoming Games, iPhone games, iPod touch games

Indie developer Alisdair Mills wrote in to inform us that he is readying StuntBike, an accelerometer-controlled, physics-based iPhone game, for a November release in the App Store.

Similar to the multi-platform XMoto, StuntBike challenges the player to get a motor bike to the end of a track by negotiating various obstacles and hazards.  The game will feature 16 single player levels and a two player “race to the flag” mode that can be played over WiFi.

Althought a final price has not yet been set, Alisdair indicates it likely won’t be over $0.99.

See a demo video of the game in its current state, posted by the developer.

OMG, awesome! I absolutely love X-Moto. Practically the only game I play on my Macbook. Will definitely get this as soon as it’s out!

the graphics are temporary - they are my work (the developer) and they will be replaced over the next month by the work of a proper designer.

gutted you didn’t like my graphics though… but i can assure you they are better than my 5 year old could do :)

    @AlisdairMills

So the update with the new graphics would be free right?

  7. Fritzy Says:

@Arpan If you actually read the article, the video is of a dev version, hence not a final representation.

  8. K Says:

SWEET! Love this game in all forms, and look forward to the release :)

Music isn’t bad either. Alisdair, will we be able to play our own iTunes songs while playing?

Anyone remember Dirt Bike from Brad Quick from pre-OS X days (not 3D one)? I’ve had such a fond memory of that game. I haven’t tried X-Moto yet but I’m gonna check that out now.

I’m excited by the idea of this game but so far it isn’t looking too great in term of graphics and level design. I’ll keep an eye on this one though.

I will buy this. Hopefully the end graphics will still look fun and will not try for realism. Line Rider Wii has nice/fun graphics.

  11. NotYou Says:

I said in a post a few days ago that an Xmoto type game would be great on the iPhone. this should be good… in theory.
Xmoto looks a lot nicer, but that doesn’t really mean much.

It looks like a ton of good looking games are planned for November.

doesnt look very complex, looks like your “engine” is just some simple chipmunks physics sample code with nicer graphics.

doesnt look very complex, looks like your \”engine\” is just some simple chipmunks physics sample code with nicer graphics.

  14. Phil Says:

I think the cheesy graphics are hilarious and brilliant. I’d certainly give this a shot at 59p.

Cant wait to download it and play it. Looks like hours of fun….
