A Quick Look at 'Torus' for the iPhone
posted by Blake Patterson on September 29th, 2008 5:54 PM EDT in $1.99, Puzzle, Reviews, iPhone games, iPod touch gamesMark S. Morris recently released a Torus [App Store], a fun little accelerometer-controlled puzzle game that can be a bit frustrating. As the developer describes it,
Catch tori as they fall from the sky by tilting your device to slide the base hook around the play area. You take damage each time a torus hits your base or the floor, but you can replace health points by catching the glowing green tori that appear when you are in danger.
It's a super-simple game, but is an amusing pick-up diverison set to a relaxing audio trackset.
See a simple gameplay video posted by the developer:
Torus is available for $1.99 through the iTunes App Store [Store Link].

Looks neat. Probably too hard for my shaky hand though.
Cheers for coming up with a fresh concept.
Amazing game, some rough edges. Need to control with the screen also.
But awesome game play
I can only imagine how hard this game will be on the bus commute home. Definitely looks like a fun little gem for $2 though!
Looks pretty cool.
Torus is now free, and the sensitivity of the platform motion that people were complaining about has been fixed in a pending update.
Torus 1.1 was just approved by Apple and is now on the App Store

The accelerometer input has been tuned based on feedback from players to improve stability of the base when being held under a torus. This gives the player more opportunity to enjoy all four of the ambient background music tracks that come with the game. High scores can be recorded at the playtorus.com high score table, which can also be tracked on Facebook
