Pangea Software has released their port of Bugdom 2 [App Store].

The title is aggressively priced at $2.99 which is described as "25% off" its regular price.

Bugdom 2 is a 3D action-adventure game. In this game you play Skip McFly, a grasshopper who explores the areas inside and around a house, and encounter both friends an enemies. You'll have to perform tasks to get help from the other critters, and the game is loaded with unique gameplay on every level! For example, you'll surf down the rain gutters, bomb anthills from a balsa airplane, rescue mice trapped in mousetraps, race in slot-cars, etc. etc.

Pangea offers a limited demo of the Mac OS X version if you'd like to see how the game is played. For the iPhone version, the company has integrated accelerometer and touch-based controls.

I just happened to visit the new games section here a minute after this game was released and I downloaded it right away.

That really doesn't have anything to do with the game itself. Why are you still reading this?

is anyone else having trouble with app store links when trying to access them from an iPhone? They are all broken since I updated to 2.1.

    Tom,
Yeah. I tried downloading Jaadu when it was $5 and I was away from home. The link wouldn't work on the iPhone and it went back to $25 by the time I got to my computer.

Just think, if I had Jaadu, I could have accessed my computer and downloaded it from there. Twist your brain around that for a minute.

This game is ok, but is hard to control at first (tilt to walk in different directions).
Good for the price I suppose. Maybe I'll get used to it soon.

I like the game so far - very varied and nice 3d graphics. Feels like a full PC/MAC game with depth. Controls are a bit weird at first but once you got used to them they are actually quite intuitive. I was very impressed with the great sound, the music, the overall atmosphere and the lovely animations. For this price this is definitely a bargain.

I have had a good go of this now, and am still having problems with the controls. Sometimes, the bug just won't slow down when you want him to, then you tilt it back too far and he turns around instead. Then there are times it walks round in circles just because you are trying to pick something up. I have even turned the sensitivity right down, and still have problems.
It's a shame because I really want to like this. It has great colourful graphics and lovely music and sound effects, plus characters actually talk in the game too. The levels so far are huge, and exploring would be fun, if it weren't for the controls. I gave it 3 out of 5 in iTunes.

The controls are tough at first. I also would walk around in circles to pick something up, but I realized later that they already compensated for the weird controls. As long as you're near the object, he'll turn to it and pick it up, or kick it.

I was glad to see that. That usually the kind if thing that they'd let go, then fix in an update weeks later after hundreds of complaints.

Does anyone else find the voices a little freaky? This is childish to the point of being surreal. That really makes it more fun.

2.99 is a steal for this game. Completely fully featured, beautiful game. It absolutely needs an auto save during game play no matter where you are though. I have ended up doing the first level three times now.

I haven't spent a TON of time with it but I've had pretty much the same experiences. controls can get away from you, but they're not terrible, and I'm sure they'll be smoothed out even more with time.

it's a very pretty, smooth-running game, and the first of it's kind so far!
seems like a steal for 3 bucks!
(my decision to wait for a line rider price drop seems even more justifiable now lol)

haven't gotten past the first level either. don't know what to do with the mouse traps!

Regarding the mouse traps, walk up to the part that has him trapped (if the controls will let you!) and swipe down the screen as if to pick something up. You will then free the mouse. Try and find all of them for bonus points (you'll see a tally on the left side of the screen).

I like this game a lot but does anyone know how you're supposed to squash the berries in the second level?

I too am having trouble trying to find out how to squash the berries. I have posted a thread in the forum about it. I am assuming you use the ball- but how do you roll the ball?
The game is still frustrating to play for me- sometimes he'll walk nice and slowly like I want him to, and other times he'll run around like a headless chicken, leaving you running around in circles trying to pick up an object until you resort to pressing the button to stand still. Almost tempted to remove this app until an update improves control! So glad it was cheap.

Got over the ball problem- just jump on it. However, I have just removed this from my Touch. The controls are far too infuriating. In the toy room level I was often pushing toy blocks instead of what I actually wanted to do which was jump on the thing! Then I spent 30 minutes playing that level, only to get stuck trying to find a jigsaw piece at the end. But you can't save mid-level to carry on after a rest, so I thought 'sod it' and took it off. I can't remember a game that has p***ed me off as much as this one!

If you are having trouble clearing a certain stage go to the help menu. It takes you to the developers website where they have posted a strategy guide complete with common questions, maps, and tips.
The control is a bit difficult. Definitely turn down the sensitivity all the way. I am curious to see another control scheme like a vitual analog stick ( see jirbo break). The jirbo break control is only side to side so granted a 3d game would be a bit more complicated but I love it in jirbo break and it automatically pauses if you slip off the control area. I think it could work.

use the neutral button to stop on a dime, if you hold and tilt you can do a full 360 degree turn. This button basically reset the virtucal on the fly. Quite cool once you realizewhat it is there for. Anyonecfigure out the berry squish thing on level 2?

Ok, so i am on level one right now trying to find the 4th mouse trap so i can go through one of the gates. I hate the controls, sometimes when i try to kick a bug, i jump instead. When picking up and acorn i kick it. I have been playing for 40 minutes on level one. I need to stop for a bit but there is no save button!!!! This really bothers me. I am waiting for an update with better controls and a save button, then i will be satisfied with this game

Bugdom has been updated: SAVING IS POSSIBLE NOW!!!

I'm not gonna write in full what's the exact procedure, but in short: If the game gets terminated by a phone call or whatever, you can restore it and continue at the last checkpoint when you launch the app again.

We've been waiting for this a really long time, so update everybody!!
