I hated the main game in the console Super Monkey Ball games. It's just an extremely frustrating experience. I can't even remotely begin to imagine the frustration level that must come from the iPhone version! The only good part in the console games were the mini games and the iPhone/touch version of the game doesn't seem to have any and isn't multiplayer, which would make them pointless anyway.

But back onto topic. I'm not buying another iPhone racing game until we get one with robust internet multiplayer, and not just one-on-one. Also, Apple needs to come up with an ad-hoc networking scheme, so that people can play local multiplayer games without a wireless network available. I.e. like the DS and PSP - the iPhones/iPod touches would directly connect with each other. Otherwise the local multiplayer is almost worthless.

I heard Super Monkey Ball sucked because you couldn't save and there was no calibration.

YES! My restore has worked. Previous to firmware 2.1, restoring from a backup never worked and I always had to start games from the beginning again. This time, all my game saves have been restored. Phew!
I don't know about PSP racers, but I have seen some duff DS racers out there that ask for £25, and are far inferior to this game.
As for iPhone/Touch racers, I REALLY REALLY REALLY would love to have Colin McCrae Rally come out for it. I can't believe in all the years the DS has been out there hasn't been one rally game for it. Now I am into Touch gaming, I can only hope a rally game will come out for this. Does anyone know of any news?

This game is pretty cool. for a fiver it is good value it's never going to be anywhere near a £25-30 psp racer in terms of playability or presentation.

monkey ball on the iphone felt like a true full price game we need people like sega behind these games to make them shine.

CrockStock, yes, the tracks are definitely varied enough, unlike GTS World Racing, where every track looks the same as the last one with the same hills and tunnels. I am currently restoring my iPod from my last backup from earlier today, but I don't know if this restores game saves or just settings like email etc.

Cool, 10 tracks is a bit disappointing for me but as long as they are detailed and varied thats certainly good enough for an iPod Touch game. Ill get it sometime with the arrival of my shiny iPod (Sold my Zune and some other junk for it XD).
Sorry to hear about your bricked iPod, it\'s a shame the games aren\'t too stable currently :(

Huh! I've just played Arcade mode and reached a fifth track (and I was doing really well too) and all of a sudden the screen went black and I had the dreaded Apple logo. The game bricked my iPod! I have had this happen before with another game with older firmware (2.0 I think) and thought this would be a thing of the past with the new firmware (didn't they promise no more app crashes?). I have had to restore my iPod to factory settings. Typical.

Thanks for that CrocStock. So, I am supposed to dodge the goldskulls! Haha, there was me trying to collect them all! No wonder I kept losing!
Ahh- checked the time attack mode and there are 10 tracks! Most of these are locked and have to be unlocked, I am assuming, in Championship mode. I haven't played too much of championship mode, but it is basically win as much money as you can so you can buy more cars (up to 4- not as many as Asphalt) and upgrade them, and unlock new tracks. Like asphalt, in Championship mode you have dollar icons to collect while racing for more money.
This game definitely is the best racer for control so far (and I have played them all except Crash Bandicoot). Just get it CrocStock- it's a lot cheaper than spending £25 for a racer on the DS after all.
