posted September 17th, 2008 11:58 AM EDT by arn in Upcoming Games

AndyQua has posted that version 2 of CubeRunner [App Store] is now "feature complete" but still in beta testing. No indication when the update will be released.

All new features include:

  • Time Trial mode
  • Level editor
  • Object Editor
  • Stackable blocks
  • Multiple objects types (up to 26)
  • Can add a level by clicking on a link in Safari browser (link needs to start with cr2://)
  • Lots of bug fixes (and I mean lots)
  • CubeRunner is a free game that we looked at in July and has been a favorite amongst our commenters.

      sweet! cuberunner is great.
It was my first iphone app purchase.
I've got a bunch of other games – but cuberunner is still on my iphone :)

I hope selecting a higher level is added. I want to start at the cool green vector blocks. those are cool!

If the developer happens to be reading… please, pretty please, allow for some alternate, brighter color schemes. The original is just so… murky. As silly as it is, it actually keeps me from playing it as much as I would because as fun as the game is, and as nice as the price is, it's just not very appealing to look at, color-wise. Thanks for considering, in any case!

There's an active fanbase around Cube Runner, and they've created hundreds of custom level packs that you can download for free. While they don't change the color scheme, there are plenty of fun and challenging levels, and some even start at the green vector blocks, Bill! :-)

You can get them all at http://cuberun.org/gz0list.php

      Some personal favorites:

      Beggar's Canyon
      BladeRunner
      IndianaJones
      Lines
      ProgressiveTraining
Xtreme Green JC (xgjc) — this one starts at the green vector blocks :-)

      Hope this helps,
      Sojourn
