THQ Wireless Inc has released Star Wars: Force Unleashed [App Store] to the App Store. The $9.99 game offers a companion game to the full version due for release on September 16th. The game is described:
Experience the Star Wars universe as never before. The devastating power of the Force is in your hands. You are Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice, trained by the menacing Sith Lord to hunt down the last of the Jedi. Unleash a barrage of Fource Powers – including Grip, Lighting, Jedi Mind Trick and much more – at the flick of your fingers as you tap, touch and swipe your way through enemies using the intuitive touch-screen mechanics and exclusive CellWeaver feature. Your journey will take you across the galaxy to clash with powerful enemies, yet you are destined to clash with powerful enemies, yet you are destined to become something far greater than just Darth Vader's servant.

  • ZeroKool says:

You can't move your character around? Seems like it will get boring really soon.

  • arn says:

the game consists of you responding to the gestures shown. you can switch "modes". But you don't control the movement of your character.

I'll post a video shortly. but the previous video is reasonably accurate

Hi, does anyone know the size of the download for this game?

  • Noah says:

@Skip: Just over 20 megs, so you'll need a Wifi connection to DL OTA, otherwise, use your desktop computer.

    Cheers!

This app is not appearing in the app store and the link is invalid.

People complaining about the price in….5…4…3…2….1……

I have almost completed Force Unleashed for the iPhone. 6 chapters in total and a 'Survival' mode.

You don't control your character which were to be expected as previews have already indicated. Though, you have complete control over your force powers and there are many of them. Mind control, lightning, push/pull, drain and so on. You do those attacks by writing commands written above the enemies heads.

You can gain health by doing a circle anywhere on the screen, so it has so far never gotten challenging at all. Your force meter regains pretty fast. Though, I do love the cinematic view, graphics (backgrounds in particular are fantastic artistically) and there's a new approach to every boss encounter. But when the game is done, I can't see me going back for yet another play-through. Hilariously bad dialogue as well.

    @Anastacio

    Worth the price?

I was thinking about buying it but not sure. Now I'm really leaning towards not if it's so short. I expect a little more bang for my buck if I'm going to spend $10 on an iphone app.

  • Chuck L says:

I can get the game to show up in iTunes Store on my Mac, but not the wireless app store.

I guess Apple must push the updates to the wireless app store at different times than the iTunes based store…

  • Phil says:

type on ur iphone thq in the search engine it will show up

  • Anastacio says:

Being a gaming journalist for six years, I won't recommend the game, knowing that it is a cellphone game. It's simply too short, not challenging and indeed repetetive. You do the same actions over and over again even though, you can mix it up a bit. Wait, till the price gets knocked down.

I know it's Star Wars, but seen as a game without it's name, it's a mixed bag. Good points of the game are, that you can type in the commands wherever on the screen, it's beautiful, and the action is fun at first.
