'Spore Origins' Now Available on iPhone and iPod Touch

posted September 8th, 2008 1:32 PM CDT by arn in $9.99, Simulation, iPhone games, iPod touch games

EA's Spore Origins [App Store] is now available in the App Store.

The $9.99 game offers a miniature version of the much anticipated Spore game that was released yesterday. EA is advertising some iPhone/iPod Touch exclusive features including:

  • Tilt, turn and twist your way through the primordial ooze with your motion-sensing accelerometer.
  • Pinch, pull and poke your creation in the Creature Editor, customizing the texture, shape and body parts to fit the way you play.
  • Personalize your game-play by skinning your creature with pictures from your device's Photo Albums
  • There are 2 game modes (Evolution and Survival) with 30 levels total. We will provide a full review shortly.

I really prefer to give the "big" bucks ($10) to the smaller developers, but I'm really hoping that this game is worth it!

Let's get that review up so I can spend my bucks or curse da man!

Reminds me of snake on the old Nokia phone.

    5. Korb Says:

I want to want a game of the hottest new game franchise. But I don't want this. fl0w for the iPhone would be an instant buy, though.

    6. -NoVa- Says:

      Not in the Hungarian store.

    7. adam Says:

sign. why would they not put it in all the stores? just dumb.

    8. Byron Hinson Says:

EA still don't release iphone games in the UK Store. Typical when a big one comes out

    9. Mo. Says:

Oh well, also not released in Germany, either. I also wonder why they don't do that simultaneously. The same for Vay. I hope that does not become a habbit. :)

    10. Matt Burris Says:

They probably have to jump through hoops due to rules and regulations with each country to release these games and apps. It does suck, and kind of odd considering Spore released before the U.S. in Australia and then in Europe.

    11. dave Says:

      not is usa store either

    13. The dude Says:

It's in the app store for US. Couldn't find it through search but I used the link from the story. Still no reviews yet. I downloaded it and will probably play it tonight after work. Hope it's worth the $10.

    14. kevlar Says:

we still don't even have the ebay app in the uk store!!!!!!!!

    15. Dudehuge Says:

      I'm getting this.

    16. TheloniousMac Says:

Thought we were supposed to get it first.

    17. C.S. Says:

Love this game. Worth the money

    18. Miki Says:

ARG NO UK APP STORE VERSION %*$&@&@^$£@

    19. [max] Says:

If you're having problems finding this on the apps store try searching for Electronic Arts not Spore. This is how I found it on the Canadian store. Searching for Spore didn't get any hits curiously.

    20. Brett Says:

Goddamn bloody heck! What's up with EA? Why can't they release this game in the UK?
There's no justifiable excuse, consider we've got Spore for the iPod Classic available on the Store…

    21. Battle Born Says:

thanks for the tip max! I had the same problem here in the states

    22. Lolmaster Says:

Tried searching for Electronic Arts as suggested by Max. No good - must not be released here yet. Ohwell there's always tomorrow…

    23. Simon Says:

      No Spore in Swedish AppStore.

    24. vandy1997 Says:

Do a search for sporetm . It seems as if EA named it with the trademark and Apple lists it as sporetm . I couldn't find it on my iPhone until I typed it that way. Type it and hit Search. It should find it.

    25. arn Says:

apparently we need to make the app store links more obvious in articles.

    26. Battle Born Says:

I found the link just fine, but I personally prefer to download straight to my phone. skipping the whole sync process involved with connecting to a computer.
(maybe I could try the link from my phone's browser? oh well, got it now)

nice work on the NEWEST IPHONE GAMES list! I just noticed that today

    27. genshi Says:

I got it, and am loving it! It looks and plays great and I think the replay value is there as you will be wanting to create different creatures and evolve them in different ways, imho. Also, the little power ups such as "Shield" and "Speed" (as well as the power downs like "Poisons") are a nice touch.

    28. Lolmaster Says:

Spore Origins is now available in the UK App Store……just as I'm going to bed lol. Oh well, I can play it in college tomorrow so I'm happy. Wooooo!

    30. kevlar Says:

Finaly found it after entering Electronic arts into search as posters above have said but any link to it in this article still says not available in uk app store. Idiots!!

    31. Chuck Smith Says:

Now available in App Store Germany too. Downloading now! :)

    32. -NoVa- Says:

Now it's worldwide, and really good game :)

    33. ibwb Says:

I've been surprisingly happy with this — in fact it convinced me to go buy Spore for the Mac. I feel like I have a connection to my little creature.

    34. hexen Says:

      @ ibwb

LOL, it's fair to say most guys are connected to their "little creature", unless of course your name is John Wayne Bobbitt….. zing!
