@mike well, this version seems fast enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF6o9Vgo4qc :)

But, I think it's fair to say that Tetris on the iPhone itself isn't ever going to be perfect because of the control system. But that's not a slight against EA perse, but just the platform in general.

@mavis: I'm not talking about the price. If you want to argue that you're unwilling to pay $10 for a Tetris game, do it elsewhere. I'm talking general gameplay, graphics, etc... Which in my opinion EA did a better job. Tris was obviously better bang for the buck (as it was free), but I'd still rather play the EA version.

@arn: As the comment above yours shows, yep, people only seem to care about the price, which is really unfortunate. Honestly, is any implementation of Tetris perfect? It's eventually going to get too fast for people to respond and have control. Unfortunately the EA implementation causes that to occur sooner than directional keys and rotate button.

@Mike I'd say "reasonable" is the perfect word. The Tris opinion scale is skewed because it's free, but I thought Tris was just ok. But EA's Tetris implementation is not the best for the faster levels due to limitations of the control system. It works, but I don't think "perfect", "excellent", or "awesome" really fit.

@Mike: What are you talking about?! In my opinion, calling any $9.99 implementation of Tetris on a phone 'reasonable' is being FAR too generous.

"EA’s Tetris is a reasonable implementation of the game for the iPhone."

Uhh, and what was Tris? EA's was definitely more polished and played very well. I'm not sure if you were downplaying EA's game or not, but it definitely sounds like it.

[...] TouchArcade caught a couple of price drops in the App Store. Electronic Art’s Tetris has gone from $9.99 to $7.99, likely hoping to take advantage of the attention the game has been getting lately due to the removal of the free Tetris clone, Tris, when the developer of Tris didn’t get permission from The Tetris Company to release the game.
