'Funky Punch' to Bring Fighting Game to iPhone

Solus Games has posted a gameplay video of Funky Punch, an upcoming fighting game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. According to the developer:
FUNKY PUNCH is a amazingly accessible, uniquely entertaining, and surprisingly challenging fighting game that mixes old and new for a truly unique fighting experience.
The gameplay video (embedded below) shows off training and fighting. Controls are implemented with virtual buttons on the screen. No word on release date:

Interesting game. I question the use of the on-screen d-pad to make game selections. That's like imagining a virtual click-wheel on a touch-screen iPod. Why not just make those items selectable via direct touch. Otherwise, looks interesting and fun!

I completely agree with Mac Spec. Seems strange to see a D-Pad for the menu when you have a touch screen. Hopefully they'll change this before launch. This game looks like an ideal candidate for the iControlPad!

Responding to mac spec and chuck, I think the developer made the controls on the home screen the way they were to gibe it a kind of classic console fighting game feeling.
This game also needs to add multiplayer over a wifi network.
