Pretty shrewd move on EA's part -- having Wi-Fi multiplayer means that instead of having players share one copy of the game (on one device), they'll get to sell a copy of Scrabble to each player.

Everyone realizes that the dev's are the ones who determine what countries these apps are released in right??? Apple should have nothing to do with this, so yell at the dev's if you must!!

EA's Sudoku for iPod 5G *IS* available in the UK Store, so I really can see no reason why pretty much the exact same game, but for iPhone / iPod Touch, is not available for us here in the UK...

"Perhaps it’s also related to the ownership of 'Tetris', 'Scrabble' in respective countries, I’m not sure."

That may be a contributing factor for some games. It may also be that way back before anybody imagined online distribution of games, EA signed deals with other companies to distribute their games in certain regions. That would prohibit them from distributing in those countries via the iTMS -- at least until those deals expire.

Not ready for the Australian store? Are you kidding me? That's ridiculous. It's a game! There's no excuse for that.
